There are a number of social media and online platforms are out there that can help you to generate leads and increase your sales. But today I’ll focus on one particular platform: LinkedIn.
I love this platform more than anything. No matter if you’re a big business or a freelancer, it works for all.

First… a little about my misconceptions
Here’s something I want to confess:
Since the last year, I never used LinkedIn actively (I created the profile in 2014 but I opened it occasionally).
I believed that LinkedIn is just a job searching platform and people go there to update their resume. It has no use for lead generation and I have to dive in big ponds like Twitter and Facebook if I want to get some leads.

LinkedIn has 562 million regular use and 91% of marketing professionals list LinkedIn as the top place to find quality content (I’m one of them).
LinkedIn makes up more than 50% of all social traffic to B2B blogs and sites.
92% of B2B marketers listed LinkedIn in their digital marketing mix (ahead of Twitter and Facebook).
But these are just the Numbers!

It just requires your time and efforts. If you’re committed it will work.
Spoiler: I got 20 potential leads just in one day and almost every day I get some queries.

1. Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile
I believe the first and the most important part of your LinkedIn strategy must be: Optimizing your profile.
Let’s think about it: You get a connection request from a person you never met. What will you do?
You’ll check the person’s profile and you find an unprofessional selfie and two words bio. You’re less likely to accept the invitation.
The catch is simple: If you want to connect with the prospects you don’t know, you need to optimize your profile.
The first thing I did: I optimized my profile. It was really a mess!
What I did?
I completely filled out my profile. LinkedIn calls it All-Star profile.
Uploaded a professional picture.
I took time to write a descriptive bio and profile summary.
I customized the profile URL.
I optimized my skills and added my accomplishments.

2. Create Your Own Group
Creating a LinkedIn group helped me to build authority and generate some good leads.
The best part?
It’s easy to create one (but it takes efforts to grow and maintain the group).
First, decide your group niche and your targeted audience. Like if you provide marketing services, create a group for marketers.
If you provide services for real estate business, create a group of real estate agents, builders, and developers.
How can you create one?
Start by clicking “Work” on your top menu and then pick Groups from the drop-down.
This will bring you to a new page. Now click “create a new group” button and a form will open.
Fill the form, upload logo, and click the “create” button.
And start sharing popular content in your group and invite relevant people to your group.

3. Create a List of Potential Leads
It’s the fun part: I started finding the people who could become leads.
At first, I created a list of 500 potential leads. Sounds like tough task, but it’s not.
LinkedIn’s Advanced Search worked like a magic wand for me. This allowed me to filter my search and find the relevant people.

4. Start Connecting With the List
Let me honest with you: This process will consume longer time.
I started sending out connection request to each member on my list with a simple and personalized message.
And after connecting, I sent them a thank you message.
5. Publish Articles or Updates Regularly
I started engaging with my audience. By publishing regular posts and articles on LinkedIn every day (And I still do).
I always try to offer value to my connections with my every post. And when someone reaches out to me with a query, I respond and try to solve their problem.
When you update a post, it shows in the news feed of your connections. LinkedIn also provides a platform to publish the articles.
